Three Huskies Post PSAC Qualifiers at Penn State Open

STATE COLLEGE-Senior Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley), and sophomores Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong/Pope John XXIII) and Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) all ran Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship qualifying times as the Bloomsburg University indoor track competed at the Penn State Open on Saturday.

Shepherd, an NCAA cross country All-American, posted a time of 8:54.16 in the 3,000-meter race, finishing sixth out of 17 runners to qualify for the league championships. In the mile, Dalton finished sixth out of 12 competitors with a PSAC-qualifying time of 4:27.70.

For the women, Schwing took eighth out of 18 in the 3,000 meters, running a conference-qualifying time of 10:35.67.

The Huskies will travel to Bucknell University next weekend to compete in a two-day invitational. On Friday, Jan. 26, competition will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. start on Saturday, Jan. 27.
